Daniel Craig flips the bird and has a message for the paparazzi: Buzz off!
The Skyfall star flipped the bird at photographers in New York City earlier this week. Dressed casually in jeans and a T-shirt, the 45-year-old actor appeared to be in a foul mood as he left Gemma restaurant, located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
Perhaps Craig merely wanted some privacy. After all, he recently refused to do a joint interview with his wife, Rachel Weisz, with whom he costars in Broadway’s Betrayal.
Daniel Craig mentions:
“People used to think I was particularly rude and obnoxious to journalists,I’m only rude and obnoxious to journalists who ask me stupid questions.”
Weisz, 43, feigned surprise when she asked about their insistence on doing separate interviews.
Rachel Weisz explains:
“That is strange, isn’t it? I don’t know why they did that.”
According to her hubby, however, they’d prefer that their fans focus on their professional works instead of their personal lives.
Daniel Craig explains:
“We’re separate entities professionally, and we’re happy to stay separate entities, and we’re not a professional couple, We just don’t want to be seen in that way: a couple. Because our relationship is nobody’s business but ours. We’re going on stage together, and we know we’re exposing ourselves, but we’re professionally exposing ourselves, which is what we do. Marriage is hard. Everybody has to work at it. And to have it exposed publicly doesn’t do it any favors. Personally I’m not interested in other people’s relationships.”
As far as his sometimes prickly persona goes, Craig said he’s hoping to infuse more comedy into future James Bond films.
“Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche, I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense? I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can’t do it very well, so I don’t do it.”
